Virtual Classes via ZOOM!

It took a while, but I’m ready to start scheduling you for virtual classes!

It will still be some time until I’m ready to do classes in person with all of you, but I hope you will find the virtual classes engaging and meaningful.

So, here’s the spiel:

Come rock out with me once a week at a day and time of your choice over zoom! In my virtual music classes, your child will engage in cognitive and physical development in a variety of ways. Skills addressed include:

  • number concepts
  • listening
  • Collaboration

  • Gross Motor

1. Each class is 30 minutes and will consist of 5 families per session.  There will also be breakout rooms that you can be in before your session begins to catch up with your friends before engaging with your child.  You will receive the Zoom invite the night before your class.

2. Each session lasts 6 weeks and classes are once a week.  Have to miss a class? Don’t worry, there will be a makeup class the week after the session ends! Even if you don’t miss any classes and want to join for the makeup class, you are welcome to do so.  Think of it as an extra free class!

AWESOME! Coming 1/17/19

Hey all!

My new album, “Awesome” is dropping January 17, 2020. Perorder your copy here and get a sneak peak when you preorder! Here are some things people are saying about it….

” A self-described goofball that grew up feeling like a misfit learned his lessons well at Berklee and now speaks to this nu generation of goofballs in a language they can understand and appreciate. Feeling like a show music album, as the noise keeps getting louder, an album full of positive messages to the highly impressionable will surely stand out and be welcome. Dissatisfied adults might even get more out of this kids album than the kids will. It’s just the times we’re living in. Killer stuff throughout.”
– Chris Spector, Midwest Record

“Awesome! is a lively, upbeat children’s music CD. Music artist, music teacher, and former primary school teacher Jesse Jukebox (a.k.a. Jesse Friedberg) has infused the positive-minded songs with lyrics inspired by his own adolescence. Jesse grew up with ADHD, and had to struggle with learning how to pay attention and comprehend school lessons. In between vocals, Jesse talks candidly or shouts, sharing an invaluable message that everyone has their own “awesome” inside – exceptional qualities that are worth going on a “treasure hunt” to find. A can- do affirmation of the joy of learning, Awesome! is highly recommended, especially for school and public library children’s music collections.”
– Midwest Book Review

” With irrepressible energy and an outrageous sense of fun, Cleveland’s beloved family musician, Jesse Jukebox (a.k.a. Jesse Friedberg), celebrates a positive message of high hope in his third kids’ album, Awesome! Packed with lyrical wisdom born of Jesse’s experiences growing up with ADHD, Awesome! will be released on January 17, 2020.

Awesome! holds a very special meaning for Jesse Jukebox, who, every day, strives to bring to children the message that, no matter what, there is plenty of “awesome” inside each one.

“When I was a child, I felt misunderstood. I didn’t quite fit in,” explains Jesse. “I had speech problems (I couldn’t say anything but the ABCs until I was 3), vision problems (I’ve had glasses my entire life), teeth problems (my overbite was out of control), learning problems, and behavioral problems. As a toddler, I was kicked out of a Daddy & Me class. When I was a bit older, I struggled in school. It was so hard to pay attention and understand the lessons. One teacher actually told me I was stupid. The faculty just gave up on me and advised my parents to expect me to never be more than an average to below-average student. My parents didn’t give up on me though, and, with their support, I finally began to get the help I needed when I was diagnosed with ADHD. This led to many positive changes in my life. I switched to a new school and saw lots of different specialists (speech, motor, learning). It was then that I began to understand myself, and this opened the door to learning the skills I would need to enjoy a happy and productive life.”

Jesse continues, “So, what does all this have to do with my new album? In a lot of ways, Awesome! is meant to remind kids who might be going through similar trials that they aren’t alone and to urge everyone to go on a treasure hunt for that sense of ‘awesome’ that lies within, waiting to be discovered.”

The title track comes bursting out of the chute with awesome energy, listing the many awesome pieces of a child’s world that just might have been overlooked. An ode to intuition, “Listen to Your Gut” is all about that overwhelming and sometimes terrifying feeling that comes with decision-making and how it usually helps to rely on our instincts.

“Complicated Kid,” a song dealing with themes close to Jesse’s heart, conveys how easy it is to feel misunderstood. We aren’t simply “bad” or “scared,” we’re just complicated! “I Wanna Learn” explodes with an overwhelming enthusiasm for learning, while “Where You Belong” is all about everyone’s quest to find their place in the world, comforting young listeners with the confidence that comes from a sense of self-acceptance.

Awesome! was produced by Grammy winner Dean Jones, and Jesse is quick to point out the enormous contribution Dean made to this project. Reflecting on the good times he and Dean had in their recording sessions, Jesse enthuses, “Dean was loose and open for collaboration, and he helped me write and record some of my best work. We put a lot of energy into making the songs the very best they could possibly be. No doubt they aren’t perfect, but then music sung from the heart isn’t supposed to be. It should be beautifully flawed, just like people are.”

Hello Jukeboxers! Wait, I don’t like that. That sounds a little strange. Can we forget I said that? Just pretend you didn’t read that, ok? It seems like these days all the big acts have a nickname for their fans. There are Beliebers, Beyhives, Phish Phans, Swifties, and Parrotheads, so why not a fan nickname for me? I’ll keep working on a name, it will happen one day!

Oh my, I got off on a tangent. I was writing this post to let you all know that I will be playing 4 shows at this year’s LaureLive Music Festival! There will be some incredible bands there such as Gary Clark Jr., Dawes, The Head And The Heart, and me!

I will be putting on a live interactive music show for kids and their parents. You can find my show at The Cleveland Bouncers Kids Zone (located across from Stage 3).

The show times are:
Saturday (6/10) 12:45 & 3:00 PM
Sunday (6/11) 1:45 & 3:30 PM

LaureLive is located at:
7420 Fairmount Road
Russell Township, Ohio 44072
